Steve and Bucky (gen or slash) - mental connection, TW: slightly suicidal thoughts

Steve never told anyone, but he knows he wasn't just sleeping while he was frozen. He died. He must have. He knows this because he had been blessed enough to have been given his own personal heaven with Bucky.

And he's never told anyone exactly how much he hates them - all the doctors and scientists and people of SHIELD and even all the people in this damnable future - for taking that away from him. His only solace was that he knew he would die again someday and get back to Bucky.

And if he tried to speed that event along...well, that's no matter.


The Soldier's never told any of the technicians or handlers, but he's always welcomed the cryo freeze. He's never told any of them about the dreams.

He dreams about a man who's bright and warm, who makes him act differently. Who makes him act human. In his dreams, he says and does things, with no idea why. He has memories of things he doesn't truly remember happening.

They take the dreams away from him with every wipe, but the cold gives them back.

The Red Room made a mistake.

They needed the Winter Soldier to train their little assassins in the making. And for that, they needed him to remember them and their strengths and weaknesses, what they have and still needed to learn. They needed him to stay whole, while he taught them.

Except the Soldier was meant to stay broken. Because when he started piecing himself together, then he remembered other things, like that his name was Bucky Barnes and this was not right.

So, it's no surprise when one morning, the staff of the Red Room find their little assassins and the Soldier missing.

(And now Bucky's dealing with a dozen or so little sisters, and living in the future, and trying to keep up a steady stream of threats and blackmail aimed at S.H.I.E.L.D. so they'll leave him and his girls the fuck alone, and they have to keep moving because neighbors keep noticing his arm or that he's not fucking aging or the girls keep testing their 'skills' on their kids and for fuck's sake Natalia, no, just no!)

Hey, Stevie, buddy, long time no see. I think. Maybe. Sort of. Right?

So, funny story, stop me if you've heard this one.

Guy goes on a mission and falls into a ravine in the Alps. Survives it, much to his misery, and is found by some friendlies. Only, turns out they weren't friendly.

Guy gets turned over to even less friendly enemies, experimented on (some more), is shoved into an ice box and dies. Kind of. So he thought.

Guy wakes up in the future, where there are no flying cars, with a fucking metal arm, and some vague memories of sort of almost killing you (sorry about that, by the way).

Now, you gotta help me out with the punchline here, pal, because I've got no fucking clue what's going on.

Steve has some very specific stereotypes associated with him. These range from being sweet and wholesome to naive to being a terrible liar. Nowhere among them is the competence he had to have had to be a member of the SSR, the allies' intelligence agency. I want to see people doubting Steve's abilities in planning, subterfuge, subtlety, and acting, among other things, and the 5 times he proved to someone that he was secret agent material, plus the one person who knew what he could do all along.

Young!Steve Steve+Peter Friendship

I've seen a couple of fics where Steve is really young when he goes off to war (somewhere between 16 and 18 years old). I want fic were after waking up and joining the Avengers Steve meets Spider-Man. By this point no one really knows just how young Cap is (18 years old at least, early 20s at most, can't be older than 23,) and they don't understand and Cap isn't likely to tell them. The last time he told someone was the Howling Commandos and there were all sorts of issues, mainly that they got super protective of him when he can take care of himself fine. When he first meets Peter he's out of costume, and even though he acts old fashioned and out of date Peter recognizes that they're around the same age. They bond out of costume as Peter teaches Steve how to act like a modern teenager/college kid. Eventually they find out about each others' alter egos and Steve promises to not reveal his identity if Peter doesn't reveal his age. And maybe when Peter is done with college he'll try to get him onto the Avengers. Things go great for a while until either one of Steve's teammates follows him and notices he's hanging out with a kid or the events of TWS happen and Steve calls Peter for help taking Bucky and Hydra down. After that I want some overprotective!team love for both Peter and Steve, and Bucky regaining his memory and being like "Great, there's two of them now."

tl;dr, Steve went to war when he was young and now that he's in the 21st century he's only in his early 20s. Out of costume he meets Peter Parker and the two bond while Peter teaches Steve to act like a modern kid. They find out each others' secret identities and that only makes their friendship stronger. Then someone finds out just how young Steve is and stuff happens, possibly TWS.

Basically Peter and Steve being besties. And the rest of the team seeing them as kids and being overprotective adults.

Highlander crossover, gen or Steve/Bucky

So, Bucky Barnes died in Azzano from a combination of the guards beating him and pneumonia before Zola ever began experimenting on him. When Zola finally did get him, what he had was an American soldier whose body healed from everything almost instantaneously, who died and came back – whose arm never got lost in the mountains after he fell.

So. Does Hydra still create the Winter Soldier if the mindwipes only work for maybe a day? Does he escape at some point and then get jumped by headhunters? Does one of the Highlanders find him, or Kronos, or what?

Any/Any or Gen, Peggy Becoming a part of the Howlies (Spoilers for Agent Carter ep. 105)

Most fics tend to depict Peggy Carter as being a little distant from the Howling Commandos, being mostly a behind-the-scenes analyst/intelligence officer. From the looks of her interactions with the Howling Commandos in the show, though, she was quite involved and friendly with the team, and appears to have even gone on missions with them long before the last battle against the Red Skull.

I want some fic of Peggy basically being one of the Howling Commandos - out in the field with them, down and dirty and having fun all the while. Given that the men were getting used to working with soldiers of other races and from other nations, getting used to working with a woman was really not much of an extra hassle. While there may be some romantic tension between her and Steve - or not, up to author - it gets left behind at camp once they're on a mission, and in the field they are nothing but good friends and comrades.

I just want to see Howling Commando!Peggy when Steve and Bucky were still alive, and all of them being little shits together and being the best Allies strike force in the process. :)

Doctor Who X-over - Steve vs. A paradox (and all his scientist friends are not so silently freaking)

(Saw another cool DW crossover on here and this popped into my head.)

After the events of the Avengers, Steve's surprised to find out that it hadn't, in fact, been Earth's first battle with aliens. Not too long ago, there was what was known as 'The Battle of Torchwood.'

During his research on the battle, Steve stumbles across a memorial website with the names and pictures of the dead. Imagine his surprise, when he finds a familiar face - Rose Marion Tyler, a friend from his time in Britain during the war.

A bit more digging brings Steve to SHIELD's files on a (mostly) friendly alien know as the Doctor.

Fast forward a bit [either pre or post WS] and Steve and/or the others come across a big blue box and its inhabitants, the Doctor and a certain bright eyed blonde, enjoying her time traveling adventures and ignorant of her past/future death.

Now Steve's doing his best to resist the urge to warn them and save the life of someone who was a close friend to him and Bucky and everyone when they had dearly needed a bright spot in their lives.

After Steve finally finds Bucky, he tries to re-integrate him into society but whatever reason (S.H.I.E.L.D. still considers him dangerous, Bucky's mental issues are too damaging, he can't cope with his cope with his new), but things don't work out and Bucky disappears again, this time telling Steve not to come after.

Orphan Black crossover (contains massive spoilers for OB)

Instead of going to Dyad, the Duncans got their clone research funded by Hydra on the condition that they be used as sleeper agents. The genetic material used to make them is actually a mix of Steve and Bucky's DNA, making them their "daughters" so to speak. Their adopted parents? All Hydra agents/associates. The paths they took in life? Meticulously mapped out from the time they were babies. But Amelia still escapes pregnant with Sarah and Helena, who grow up completely outside Hydra's control and later start causing trouble for Hydra's plans.

+ Sarah forming a friendship with Steve before learning that he's one of her biological fathers

skinny!Steve/Peggy, Rubbing it in the SSR's noses

Spoilers for... basically all episodes of Agent Carter up to 'A Sin to Err,' but taking place before that.

Everyone seems to think Peggy was only into Captain America because he was big and strong. The guys at the SSR office use it as just one more reason to rag on Peggy (and Sousa).

Then Steve crawls out of the ice, alive but de-powered (the Serum burned itself out keeping him alive) and makes his way back home. It doesn't take long for Steve to find out where Peggy works... and to get word of how piss-poor she's being treated.

The last thing anyone expects is a tiny, angry Steve to come waltzing in to their secret office.

Except maybe Peggy slamming that little toothpick against a wall and kissing him in front of everyone. That's definitely up there.

Bonus: Steve doesn't 'save the day,' but he's one hell of a cheerleader when Peggy finally decides she gives zero fucks.

Steve/Sam, Jupiter Ascending-ish AU

Skinny!Steve is a regular guy who turns out to be the scion of a line of asshole space royalty. Sam Wilson is his hot bioengineered bird man bodyguard. They have space opera adventures. You don't have to exactly follow the plot or premise of the movie, I just want the adventures of space princess Steve and space bird soldier Sam. AU where, instead of waking up in a nice room with baseball on the radio, Steve wakes up in a room full of dead scientists and a man who looks like Bucky - if Bucky had long hair and a robot arm. The Winter Soldier then tells Steve that S.H.I.E.L.D. is actually Hydra and they have to run.

Because a brainwashed amnesiac assassin is the perfect choice to guide someone through the culture shock of waking up seventy years in the future.

Somehow S.H.I.E.L.D. managed to figure out that Bucky was the Winter Soldier, then rescue and rehabilitate him. He's already a fully functional agent but he never fully regains his memories; he only knows what other people have said about his past. So when Steve wakes up from the ice, Bucky has to face the best friend he doesn't remember, but who loves him to death, and explain that he was once an ruthless assassin who killed a ton of people for Hydra, including their other friend, Howard. Angst from both sides.

Bonus: Steve and Bucky were once a couple, but kept it a secret from everyone. So future!Bucky has no idea that Steve is in love with him.

Basically I'd like to see different people react to the legendary Captain America being alive. Preferably gen, but pairings could be fit in if anon wants it.

Steve and Sam never catch up to Bucky, the first concrete evidence of his whereabouts they get is when the mythical Winter Soldier surrenders to the US government, to make amends for the seventy years of covert assassinations and mayhem. Steve, understandably, freaks out, but Bucky is not a martyr. He does it publicly (to make sure they can't whisk him to some covert prison) and he does it with all the information about the conditioning process that he thinks he has at least a fair chance of proving he wasn't acting of his own volition.

Steve rushes to confront him, and Bucky admits he didn't find him first, because he knew Steve would try to stop him, even though this is the right thing to do, and meeting Steve beforehand would make it so much harder.

Steve/Bucky would be much adored.

Nat is Deaged Goes Looking For TWS Or As She Calls Him Dad

Natasha was rasied by Bucky in the Red Room. She is deaged to her little grill assassin self and goes looking for her "father" kicking Nazi ass along the way for hurting him. Meanwhile the rest of the Advengers desperately look for her and find more about her past and eventually about Bucky.

Bucky didn't fall off the train, and instead of falling into the freezing waters, Steve had help with the plane so he didn't freeze. The howling commandos help the allies win the war.
Bucky and Steve both have the super solider serum so they don't age toghter they create S.H.E.I.L.D. Steve is the director and Bucky his super spy right hand/boyfriend. How does this change the Marvel TV/Movie universe?

This can be Avengers or Agent Carter. Outsider POV would be amazing. If Agent Carter she and Howrad can form it with them and it not be right away. Also they don't know Tony as a child if it's movie he can still dislike Steve because of his father but he doesn't know him.

Fast-forward to the 21st centuries where people understand that soulmates can be platonic. But its relatively rare so the common expectation is that soulmates are always a couple.

Natasha and Steve are platonic soulmates and constantly have to tell people that no, they're not together and they already have boyfriends.
