Steve manages to convince the doctors to let him sign himself out the next day (against medical advice - he can hear them tutting). But he thinks that if he had to look at those same four walls any longer he would've started crawling on them. Being trapped in a hospital usually would have made him restless, the fact that every minute meant the trail for Bucky could be getting colder only amplified that.
He has no idea where to start, all he has are the files Natasha gave him (seventy years in horrible excruciating detail, but absolutely no detail that would help him now), and a bond that really would only be useful to help track Bucky if he's close enough to scent his mate (so basically redundant and mostly useless).
