No, scratch that. Steve is Aeryn and *Bucky* is Crichton.

Stucky / Farscape / Mini-Fill - Man of Out of Space-Time

Bucky's been on the ship a week and it feels no less crazy than it did before. It's a prison ship filled with aliens, though, he's really the alien here. From what he can tell, apparently everyone on this ship is innocent. Yeah, right. The prisoners include Banner, humanoid in appearance apart from a slight green sheen. He's mostly amiable, and Bucky wonders how that's possible in their current circumstances.

“Because you wouldn't want to see me angry,” he had explained to Bucky before disappearing into the ship's lab.

Piloting the ship is Stark. He has a strange glowing thing embedded in the middle of his chest which allows him to pilot the ship from anywhere. He can see and feel as the ship if he wants to. But he doesn't want that. He never wanted to be a pilot. He fell into the wrong hands and ended up joined to this vessel, the Iron Man. He was imprisoned because he's stolen this ship before and he'll steal it as many times as it takes to disconnect himself from this hunk of metal.

There's Thor, tall, muscle-bound, godlike Thor. He's royalty somewhere and he was framed by his brother, or so he says. Like Banner, he's amiable most of the time. The rest of the time, he seems to look confused as to how he ended up in a ship filled with these peons, when he should be sitting on a throne. He has at least once shouted in Stark's face, “I was a king! I do not have to listen to the likes of you.”

“Well, you know where the door is,” Stark had said. “Enjoy space. I hear it's nice this time of year.”

It was Natasha Romanoff who led Thor away before he could obliterate Stark with one punch. Small, petite, Natasha, whose calm makes Bucky wonder about her. She moves in a particular way, a way that's not quite hidden under the long black robes she always wears. He sees her meditating sometimes, walking past her quarters, and he knows that for all her supposed detachment from the material plane in that moment, she's completely aware of her surroundings. She may be the most dangerous person here.

There's also Officer Steve Rogers. He's a Shield Peacekeeper, though that's misleading because from what Bucky's seen, Peacekeepers don't seem to know a hell of a lot about peace. There's one on their tail right now. When Bucky exited the wormhole that brought him to this place, his shuttle clipped a Peacekeeper dart, sending it spiralling away before it exploded. In that dart was the brother of Captain Rumlow who is now chasing the Iron Man so he can get his hands on Steve and avenge the murder of his brother. Telling him it had been accident didn't seem to matter. He couldn't see anything other than red. Even when Rogers explained that the 'ewman' was telling the truth, he had shook his head and said, “Take Officer Rogers into custody. He's been irreversibly contaminated.”

And then they ran, and they've been running since. Rogers spends a lot of time between smirking at Bucky's expense or stomping away, prickling with anger at having been ejected from his own life. But for the most part, he seems to have adjusted to being on this ship, being a part of this crew. He still moves like one of them though, those Peacekeepers. He was born to become a soldier, and even out of danger, he stalks the corridors as if he might have to start fighting any moment.

Bucky feels out of depth. He was a guinea pig in a deep space test flight. He was meant to slingshot out and slingshot back, and then maybe get back to flying a good old F15, or something. It's the last time he's going to volunteer himself for a space program. No really, it's not like he has a choice. Also, he's pretty much living in space now, and getting with that program. At this point, his only real worry is, will he ever go home again?

His musing is interrupted by a jolt in the ships usually smooth space glide. Bucky gets to his feet and leaves his quarters, heading out into the corridor. Another jolt has him almost lurching to the ground. When the ship stabilises, he starts running to the control room. Steve appears from another corridor and they fall into step next to each other.

“Stark?” Steve asks, looking up as though Stark might literally be above them.

The ship jolts hard this time, lurching to the side, and Bucky makes a grab for Steve, both of them falling against the bulkhead where Bucky ends up with his hands braced either side of Steve, their bodies crushed together. Bucky's mouth is pressed against Steve's shoulder as they wait for the ship to do whatever it's going to do next.

“What the hell's going on, Stark?” Bucky asks, pulling back from Steve's shoulder.

“Moving now, talking later,” Stark's voice buzzes across the comms. “Hold onto something. We're jumping out of here.”

Bucky stays with his palms pressed up against the bulkhead, Steve crushed between him and the wall, taking it all his stride as usual. Bucky asks him, “Peacekeepers?”

Steve shakes his head slowly. “Not out here. Could be Hydra. These ships are unique. They'd want to tear it and Stark to pieces.”

Bucky opens his mouth to opine that the universe just became a little more horrifying when the Iron Man jumps. Bucky and Steve go flying in the opposite direction, coming away from the wall and falling on the floor, Bucky landing on his back, still holding onto Steve who lands on Bucky. Steve tries to scramble up, but the ship is stuck in one long lurch and he ends up falling back down, this time facing Bucky. They both just stare at each other through the jump, until stillness overtakes the ship.

“We're good,” Stark announced. “Pissed off a Hydra scout ship, but good.”

Steve is still lying on top of Bucky, looking slightly bemused. Bucky, being suicidal, can't help but put a hand on Steve's waist, his thumb stroking lightly. “I for one, think that was an amazing date.”

Steve frowns, a smile lingering on his mouth. Shaking his head, he says, “I think your microbes are malfunctioning again. Or your brain.”

“A little bit of this, a little bit of that,” Bucky says, laying on his most charming smile.

It must work, because though he's frowning, Steve gives a surprised laugh before getting up on his feet. He holds out a hand for Bucky, pulling him up in one, swift, and easy man oeuvre. Then he just gives Bucky a look somewhere between 'you interest me, Earth man' and 'you're possibly a moron' and turns and strides off. Bucky tilts his head and watches with a sigh. He misses home, he misses it a lot. But there are... things... that make the distance bearable.
