Winter Soldier x Pre-serum!Steve

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Hydra's plans of killing the Super Soldier had always been thwarted. So decided to send The Winter Soldier's. His target is Steve Rogers/Captain America. However instead of the present, The Winter Soldier was sent to the past when Steve Rogers was just but a sicky and skinny kid from Brooklyn.

The Winter Soldier instead of killing him, started protecting him instead.

A happy ending would be nice. :D

Post WS, steve/bucky, guilt, protective!steve

(Anonymous) 2014-05-09 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Somebody (can be an OC, or maybe various people) does not think the brainwashing makes Bucky less guilty of what he did as the Winter Soldier. (He should have resisted more/"You can only be manipulated into something that's inside you all along"/ bucky is dead and the person at hand is nothing but a monster, ... whatever.)

Bucky is easily pushed into a mayor guilt trip, because that's what he's been secretly believing all along. So maybe he lets these people hurt him, or he just falls apart more and more.

Then, of course, Steve notices and boy, *bad* day for the bad guys. Also, mayor h/c ensues.

Bucky/Steve - established relationship, pre-change, gendered issues

(Anonymous) 2014-05-09 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
I've recently become very taken with the idea of Bucky and Steve being in a relationship before Bucky went to war and Steve became Captain America. The terms of their relationship are, in a way, very gendered - Steve is smaller, Bucky largely supports both of them, Steve is sort of Bucky's "girl back home" when he's at war - but neither of them thinks of Steve as any less manly, even so. How do they handle that? Can be set pre- or post- Bucky shipping out, but I'd like them to either resolve these issues in-story or have resolved them already by that point - they figure out a way of thinking about it that works for them even before Steve becomes bigger.

Winter Soldier/Steve, Natasha's matchmaking

(Anonymous) 2014-05-09 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
After the movie the Winter Soldier tracks down Natasha and corners in her hotel. Natasha thinks he's there to kill her. Instead he sits her down and begins telling her all the reasons he would be the best mach for Steve instead of Sharon or anyone else for that matter. Natasha goes from being terrified to amused to thinking this is the greatest idea ever.

Winter Soldier/Steve, Russian troubles

(Anonymous) 2014-05-09 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Natasha teaches Steve some Russian to use while he's trying to convince Bucky to come home. Unfortunately Natasha has a great sense of humor and Steve's not quite saying what he thinks he is.

Steve/Bucky the Purge AU

(Anonymous) 2014-05-09 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like to see Steve wake up in the America depicted in The Purge. No cops, no ambulances, no fire and a crime free-for-all for 12 hours. But how can Captain America protect half the country from the other half? Will this be the fight he finally has to quit? Stucky preferred, either by Bucky breaking his programming on his own before Cap wakes up or after a CA2 type series of events. Because Steve shouldn't be all alone in that dystopia.

Bucky/Steve, Once Upon A Time AU

(Anonymous) 2014-05-09 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Where Bucky is the mad hatter, Natasha is the savior, and Steve is the local sheriff and her best friend. Bucky kidnaps Steve to get Natasha to fix his hat. (And to get Steve to remember being his true love, but that's whole different problem.)

Bucky/Steve, touchy feely

(Anonymous) 2014-05-09 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
After Bucky and Steve are reunited Bucky becomes very touchy. It starts with casual hand holding and quickly evolves into him pulling Steve into his lap. It gets even worse when other people are in the room.

Steve/Bucky vampire prompt 1

(Anonymous) 2014-05-10 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Bucky would never have survived the fall from the bridge if he hadn't been found by HYDRA, the world's oldest vampire coven. One of Hydra's highest ranking members turned Bucky, and as a fledgling vampire Bucky is unable to disobey his maker. Add that force obedience to his initial disorientation and confusion, and seventy years of isolation from the world and by 2014 Bucky has largely forgotten or suppressed the memories of his old life. Then he finds Steve again, and all the old protective feelings return. But he's still bound to his maker and unable to turn against HYDRA, or can he defy millennia of vampire law to save Steve?

Steve/Bucky vampire prompt 2

(Anonymous) 2014-05-10 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Preserum!Steve and vampire!Bucky in essentially a Let the Right One In AU. Because how close are Oskar and Eli to Steve and Bucky? Oskar and Steve- solitary, unpopular, forever raging against the bullies they can't match physically, Eli and Bucky protecting their friends, willing to kill or die for them, strong but alone except for their one companion.

Sam/Steve, the shovel talk dissolves because Sam Wilson is NICE

(Anonymous) 2014-05-10 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
So, would love to see Steve crushing on Sam hard, and Sam, who has more emotional awareness than the rest of the team combined, gently but definitely working around to the "ask Captain America out" part. At this point, some of the Avengers take it upon themselves to give Sam the shovel talk. You know, the good ol' what are your intentions for our patriotic virgin and we know where you live, literally talk.

Only, every single time, it completely dissolves halfway through because they realize Sam Wilson?

Sam Wilson is nice.

Goddamn it, he is so nice and such a great guy and he makes delicious breakfast and FUCK, THERE IS NO BETTER PARTNER FOR STEVE ROGERS THAN THIS MAGNIFICENT FALCONINE SPECIMEN OF A SUPERHERO, PRAISE JESUS. LET THEM HAVE GORGEOUS BABIES.

tl;dr: The Avengers are diehard Sam/Steve shippers after meeting the majesty that is Sam Wilson.

Bucky x Steve - Prehistoric/Cave Man AU

(Anonymous) 2014-05-10 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
In which Steve Rogers is the second son to one of the tribes in a forest in the East and seems incapable of aiding his tribe with the hunting as he is sickly. As they lose more of their game to a rival tribe, most specifically that Tribe heir Bucky Barnes, Steve's father forces him to gain Bucky's favor in order for their tribe have a chance to hunt.

Steve was required to dress as a girl (he'd pass for one with his features anyway) in order to distract Bucky. Both young men fall in love with each other for real and Steve grows increasingly guilty at deceiving his friend. This guilt nearly consumes him when Bucky gets seriously injured saving his life. Coming from different tribes and Steve supposedly getting Bucky's attention by pretending to be a girl, Steve wonders if there is a chance they'd be together at all. Not to mention how Steve's father dislikes Bucky and his tribe so much.

Steve/Natasha fake dating

(Anonymous) 2014-05-10 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
Because the escalator kiss made me want more. Cap and Widow have to pretend to be a couple while on a mission. Take it in whatever direction you want to. I'm a huge fan of the "casually ignoring our UST because I prefer being bros with you" dynamic they had going on in CA:TWS, but you can make it as shippy or as platonic as you like.

+++ Steve being really bad at it until some 'eureka!' moment about getting into character, then being scarily good at it.

Steve/Howard - Steve/Tony Like Father, Like Son

(Anonymous) 2014-05-10 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
So Steve and Tony do the deed and Steve inadvertently lets something slip like, "Hey, your dad had that same move." Tony is equal parts mortified and morbidly curious. Can be as ridiculous or serious as you like.

TWS talking Bars to learn how to act like a normal human being

(Anonymous) 2014-05-10 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Thing is, The Winter Soldier was a weapon, he wasn't let out for more than a few days at the time and each time he was, it was only for a mission. So it's to be expected that his social skills would be somewhat rusty. but since he wants to blend in he needs to learn how to act normal.

The obvious solution is to go to bars and watch people interact.

Bonus:
*TWS tries to woo people to see how good his social skills are.
**He usually fails in a spectacular manner.
***his preferred victims tend to look like pre-serum Steve.
****He tries to woo Sam. Needless to say, things don't go as planned.

steve/bucky, 101 Winter Soldies or Orphan Black AU

(Anonymous) 2014-05-12 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
Post CA:tWS Bucky start to recover his memories and returns to Steve for help.

And a few weeks later, so does another Bucky. And another. And yet another.

It turns out Zola cloned Bucky and made a bunch of Winter Soldiers and now that they're alone without HYDRA to control them they all start to migrate towards Steve (whether they have fragments of original Bucky's memories or if they see the photos of Bucky and Steve in from the war is up to you).

Re: steve/bucky, 101 Winter Soldies or Orphan Black AU

(Anonymous) 2014-05-17 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
For decades after the war ended, America was fixated by the heroism of the moment where Steve Rogers transcended the mirage of heroism and became a hero, when he saved his best friend from torture and burned all the enemy's precious research to the ground.

Arnim Zola mourned the facility, but he hated the enforced pause in his research.

(Even then he had been sure James Barnes would come around again. He had put his mark into the very fiber of the man, his mark was etched into his bones.)

The research--the important work--could not wait for Captain America to drop Zola's precious project off a train, though. It was too important to wait for chance or the whims of a cartoon who wore a flag in battle.

Zola began again. He began with pieces, built them up.

The first one to open its eyes was no bigger than a child. It looked out into the world--a dark, shadowed room, cold and inhuman--and met Zola's eyes unflinchingly.

(He expected fear; James Barnes had been afraid.)

It spoke to Zola and Zola destroyed it immediately. It was a failure, it was stupid and flawed and a waste of his gifts.

The child died and had only ever said the one word: "Steve?"

Three more attempts and they all glanced around the cold room looking for Steve; sometimes they begged to be allowed to return to him.

There was nothing Zola could make of James Barnes that wasn't streaked already with Steve Rogers. There was no explanation, no rational reason that blank copies of bland human should throw this glitch up again and again.

Zola made his first Chair for Number Fifteen.

(Later, James Barnes would sit in the third incarnation of this Chair and Zola would have all the tools he needed to excise Steve Rogers ready and waiting.)

By the time Zola had reached Number Twenty-Six, James Barnes was available again. It only took an underhanded message to the Russians, some ice, and all the hubris of American political negotiation to re-unite them.

Number Twenty-Six was put on ice with the few others who had not buckled and warped under those early iterations of the Chair.

Three of them quietly died in their ice cases with no one the wiser. The Winter Soldier was a complete success, for all that he needed constant tweaking, and the experiments were no longer necessary.

If anything, Zola considered that they had served their purpose. They had taught him how to build the Chair, after all. If he had bothered to remember them, he would have had them disposed of. But they weren't important enough to remember and the Winter Soldier was more than a success, he was the proof of a concept.

Fifteen and Twenty-Six survived and woke when their ice cases stuttered to a halt in a forgotten back corridor. Twenty-Six was younger, but he still had the name on his lips that Fifteen knew he was missing:

"Steve."

Steve/Bucky, Rent Boys AU

(Anonymous) 2014-05-12 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen fics where Steve is a rent boy, and one where Bucky is- what I'd love to see is one where they're both rent boys. Something similar to My Own Private Idaho with Steve as Mike (the fragile one) and Bucky as Scott (who looks after him and protects him). Happy ending always preferred.

Steve/USO girls friendship + some Steve/Bucky

(Anonymous) 2014-05-12 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve isn't actually that awkward with women. He's perfectly fine and comfortable with them when there isn't any romance or sexual attraction involved. The USO tours were something he disliked because performing just isn't his thing but he got on pretty well with the girls who toured with him. They all quickly became friends and the girls were probably the only ones that ever knew about his crush on Bucky.

A fic about the friendship between Steve and his chorus girls during those months before he went to rescue Bucky (maybe a 5 times thing ?).

Bonus :
- Most of the girls were pretty young around 18/17/19, so most of them are still alive and kicking in 2014, they're all in the same retirement home and Steve visit them every week and always come back home a lot lighter/happier.
- During the visit they're mostly gossiping (like they did in the 40s). They do have 70 years of gossips to catch up.
- Natasha and Sam thinks it's hilarious and endearing. Steve threatens bodily harm if they ever tell any of the other Avengers about this. He's not ashamed, he just has enough teasing from Nat and Sam.
- Once The Winter Soldier is -mostly- Bucky again, Steve takes him to meet the old!USO girls and they all take the opportunity to embarrass Steve by saying things like 'no wonder you were sweet on him, Stevie', pinching Bucky's cheeks, calling him a hottie and telling him about all the amount of time they saw Steve draw Bucky while sighing like he was mourning a long lost lover ...

Peggy(/F): Steve is Peggy's beard

There's a bunch of fic where Steve is gay, Peggy knows and maintains a relationship with him in order to protect him or because she loves him and wants what he'll give her. How about the reverse? Peggy, definitely a lesbian, keeps up a relationship with Steve to protect her reputation (she may or may not be involved with a woman at the time). No girl!Steve, no WinterSoldier!Peggy AU, just Peggy and her good male friend helping her out.

[Fill] Not all Legends are based in Myth

(Anonymous) 2014-05-13 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope it's alright, it's the first time I fill a prompt.

He drums his figures on the table. "Are you sure this is necessary?" He asks impatiently, there's probably a small mountain of paperwork that is piling high in his office right now. He could be working on it, or getting ready for the vote next week, but instead he's stuck here – in a pesdo-nuclear shelter – satisfying the paranoia of people who see enemies in every shadow.

The bodyguard that’s assigned to him looks like one of the greenest rookie he ever saw, young and nervous and eager to please. He looks just as uncomfortable as him, and every so often he twitches in a particular manner that suggests he would prefer doing something – anything – other than babysitting him. "Absolutely, sir." The man answers.

He bravely resists the urge to bury his head in his hands and groan. "And why, pray tell, is that?" He doesn't expect an answer; the kid is obviously not part of the decisions makers. For some unfathomable reason someone out there decided that giving the rookie the role of a bodyguard is a good idea. But what does he know? Maybe his bodyguard is a mutant with some awe-inspiring power.

Or maybe, his traitorous mind whispers, maybe if someone manage to get to you through all of the security it wouldn't matter exactly who is guarding you, so it's better to not waste someone valuable.

Shush you, he whispers back.

The kid fidgets in his place, his fingers inch towards the hem of his shirt before he catches himself and starts rambling instead, "Well, I wasn't told anything official sir, but I was passing by and saw the guys playing cards during break and I thought, hey why not join them? Been a long time since we hung-out together but then I heard they were talking business and since they never tell me anything anymore I kinda- sorta- eavesdropped on them." He admits and swallows heavily, his eyes are tracking non-existing movements in the corners of the room as he lowers his voice to a nervous whisper, as if whatever he says next could summon the very beast itself from the shadows, "They said- they said the Winter Soldier is after you, sir." And if he didn't know better he would say that the kid is one part awed seven parts crapping-in-his-pants scared from the guy.

The prospect of introducing his head to the desk seems more and more enticing with every passing minute, but he's a grown man and he knows how to control his urges. Somewhat. "The Winter Soldier?" He asks dubiously, letting his thoughts on the subject be known. "The dog that ate everyone's homework during the cold war?"

"He exists! My uncle saw him." The kid says vehemently "Uncle Clark said he was like death coming to life, tearing through the security force like it was wet tissue paper- he said he could melt into the shadows like he was part of them and then appear out of nowhere and start killing people before anyone knows what happens." And then his voice is small as he turns his gaze towards the floor, "He crippled Uncle Clark, shot him in the spine, but that's- that's probably the only reason why my uncle got away with his life."

His expression softens. "Look, son, I'm sorry about your uncle but you need to understand, there are a lot of stories like your uncle's, and most are no more than just that, stories. Sometimes, when people lose too much blood their or get a strong blow to the head, their mind starts playing tricks on them, showing them thing that they think are real and-"

"My uncle wasn't delusional!-"

A blood-curdling scream pierces the air before being abruptly cut off.

The cry of bullshit dies in his throat.

"What the-"

His bodyguard tenses and pushes him towards the wall and behind him; he trains his gun on the door as the sound of fighting outside escalates and it's all so surreal because this wasn't supposed to happen, it was suppose to be meaningless and paranoia and over-protectiveness, because getting death threats became so routine that he forgot they even meant something.

"Be quiet and stay behind me at all times." The kid says strictly, only he's not a kid is he? He's a professional who saw the white of Death's eyes and came back alive to tell the story; everything else would be ridicules because that ease? That ease with which he carries his gun and angle himself towards the door so his body would come in between any racing bullets and his charge? That's something you can only gain with experience, and that short of experience kills any who are naïve enough to still be called kids.

His hearts beats a drum in his ears; his hands are sleek with sweat. Calm down his mind yells at him calm the fuck down! But through the echo of his harsh breaths he can hear the cries of people bleeding and people dying and people who are standing in the way of whoever came for him.

Shit- shit his muscles are locked in their place, the battle is coming towards them, gunshots and the crunch of broken bones and the gurgle of men chocking on their blood- light headedness attack him, something cold and heavy settle in his stomach and light a cold inferno in his vein. His legs wobble and he needs to sit down he needs to sits down did he sit down? He must have because suddenly everything is taller.

Then the screams stop.

The silence is loud and suffocating and it leaves a ringing in his ears that is only overcome by the shallow breaths desperately trying to get air to his burning lungs. The kid- man- bodyguard is still as a statue, he hasn't budged a millimeter since the attack has started, is he even alive anymore?

Then the door handle is going down, slowly, silently and if he wasn't staring at the door all the while he might have missed that. The man doesn't wait, as soon as the handle twitched he was already shooting, bullets going through the door and hopefully hitting whoever is behind it.

It doesn't work. The handle goes all the way down, the rain of bullets doing nothing to slow it down. "Fuck." His bodyguard says, as his gun stops firing. In a swift movement he replaces the empty clip with a new one, but even as he does so the door is opening. He can almost hear it creaking, impossibly, as the door is regularly oiled.

The corridor is empty. There's no one there. He wonders if yes, the assassin could melt from shadows and stab him in the back. The thought brings a laugh to his lips; the hysterical sound washes the room and is it just him or is everything brighter now? Those cheapskates, couldn't they have done this earlier, the low lighting have been a murder on his tired old eyes. They would have words afterwards, when this mess is over.

There's a small silver ball slowly rolling on the floor and into the room. Its angle is that that it was probably released at least a meter and a half from the door, his mind notes. "Grenade." His bodyguard mutters, still not moving, "Cover your eyes." He orders in a louder voice when a wall of something green and glowy and see-through springs to life around them.

He does as he's told. He closes his eyes and let himself be swept by his frantic heart and the cold fire in his veins, but it's better than being flayed alive by a grenade – flashbang, his mind corrects when the blast leaves spots in his vision and none of the expected heat comes.

He open his eyes to see a green world with spots – a green world with spots, he almost snorts – blinking doesn't help with the green and the spots keep slipping through his fingers. The green goes away and split second later his bodyguard crumples on the floor with a hole blasted into the back of his head. It's then that he registers the shot. His head snaps to the left, only to have his throat seized by cold, cold fingers.

Can't- His fingers claw desperately at the arm, but it might as well be made of metal for the good that does for him. It can't- Stop, he tries to croak through a crushed windpipe. -No. something hot and sticky and painful trickles past his nails. Please, his blurry eyes try to see past black goggles and black mask and black that takes over his vision oh please please please…

Gen or Any/Winter Soldier, Ella Enchanted AU, Potential Noncon

(Anonymous) 2014-05-14 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Bucky isn't brainwashed, he's cursed with obedience. He's fully aware of everything he's doing and he hates it, but he can't disobey orders without suffering extreme nausea and pain, and for all he knows, disobeying long enough will kill him. This can lead into sexual territory, but it doesn't have to.

Steve/Any* (or gen) Steve has a mental disorder

(Anonymous) 2014-05-14 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It can be any kind (PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, phobias, personality/mood disorders, borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, etc). Really, any kind. It can be due to his time in hybernated state or a Super Soldier Serum side effect that was still undiagnosed in the 40ies, whatever.

The mental disorder does not have to be the focus of the fic (any plot is fine), but make it a prominent element.

* Shippy (slash) is preferred, bromance or gen is ok. (no Bruce, Clint, Coulson or focus on het pairings/friendships though please)

Steve/Bucky. Rockstar AU with a twist.

Bucky is a famous musician (something akin to Jared Leto for exemple, with the fans and tours and everything) while Steve has a much more quiet life, like a teacher or a writer. They make it work.

Just...Imagine Steve's students finding out about how the singer of their favorite band is leading a crazy life by night and a super normal life by day. With their super nice but fairly normal teacher.
